Temple of Heaven and cute old people galore

After a week of all nighters, watching hundreds of videojug's videos with Susan, eating more chuar than a girl my size should eat at odd hours in the night, and randomly talking to people instead of going to bed, I really did not want to wake up at 8 am to go see the Temple of Heaven on Friday. I have to say, though, it was such a good decision. Some pretentious people might say that it's such a tourist attraction and not where you should go if you want to experience the "real China." But honestly, that's not true at all. What I found most rewarding about going to the Temple of Heaven wasn't the actually place itself, but all the Chinese people there. For instance, for a country that Westerner's so critically accuse of being politically rigid there's such a stronger sense of community here. I mean really where else do hundreds of people just randomly come together in parks to do cardio exercises or tai chi? Or spontaneously break out into song? Or where else can people who can and cannot dance both attract crowds of audiences to cheer them on?

the cutest old man we ran into that day

probably the most lively old man I saw therethe most uncoordinated dancing ever that still drew a huge crowd of spectators

such a PANG PANG baby

and oh yeah, the thing that i was actually suppose to see that day!

spontaneous singing!
